Even among the most seasoned globe-trotters, the safari holds a special place as an ultimate travel experience. Is an African safari in Zambia on your list? Check it off with a stay at the ultra-exclusive new Chinzombo Camp from Norman Carr Safaris.
Wildly luxurious, Chinzombo Camp brings a new level of safari style, service and accommodation to the Luangwa Valley. For an animal watcher Chinzombo Camp is a dream come true. The South Luangwa National Park has a wealth of wildlife: racing cheetahs, feeding hippos, lounging lions, creepy crocs, stunning leopards and much more. In fact, South Luangwa National Park – an awe-inspiring landscape encompasses Out of Africa plains, dense bushveld and meandering rivers -, is one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa. This is real animal magic!
Only 1 hour from Mfuwe Airport, Chinzombo Camp is set within 60 acres of private land with Luangwa River frontage. Being on safari is no longer solely about the variety of game you manage to spot. Rather, it has to be about experiencing a total lifestyle; one that incorporates fine cuisine, unparalleled comfort and a heightened connection with nature. This is exactly what Norman Carr Safaris wanted to create with the start of Chinzombo Camp in Zambia.
Architects Silvio Rech & Lesley Carstens, the visionaries behind North Island in Seychelles, Vumbura Plains Camp in Botswana and Leobo Private Reserve in South Africa, have created six luxurious tent-style villas (including one family villa). Each spacious villa has a private pool, cooled sleeping area, spacious bathroom and Wi-Fi. Leather, canvas, wood, khaki and elephant grey take care of the safari aspect, while urban comforts, modern finishes and elegant furnishings convey the other face of Chinzombo – an exclusive boutique hotel in the bush. Chinzombo’s new safari style is so inspiring and original and blends in with the natural world. The tented villas are like your own deluxe bush home and create a peaceful environment in which to relax after an early morning game drive. We really enjoyed listening to the soundtrack of the bush and watching the playful baboons in front of our villa.
The living – and dining area, where you can enjoy Chinzombo’s delicious culinary creations, look equally stylish. If you wish, you can have dinner in the privacy of your villa. They serve a simple breakfast and yummy buffet lunch with lots of variations, while for dinner you can choose between 2 options of starters, mains and desserts. Dining is absolutely a sublime experience at Chinzombo Camp in Zambia!
For getting up close to Africa’s most impressive wildlife, twice daily games drives are provided. We were so lucky and spotted a pride of 20 lions! Do you want to go on a thrilling walking safari? Norman Carr Safaris is famous for walking safaris. Back in the 1950s, a young game ranger called Norman started walking safaris here in the Luangwa Valley. If you want to do nothing at all, no problem! They have plans to open a gym and spa including yoga pavilion. Not bad, eh?
