Crosby Street Hotel
Soho’s arty history and urban industrial chic still draws visitors to its narrow, cobblestoned streets. Among the dizzying array of hotels in New York‘s Soho, our pick is Crosby Street Hotel, where the generously sized rooms are the ideal retreat. Crosby Street – a quite side street right in the heart of vibrant Soho – is home to this art-filled luxury hideaway from Britain’s stylish Firmdale Hotels group. This is their first US outpost and it’s hard to beat with very welcoming and attentive staff and spectacular design.
Design team Kit Kemp created an eco-conscious 11-floor red-brick structure with inside an inviting non-minimalistic decor with colourful paintings, inspired fabrics, textured wallpaper and artworks from all around the world. The Crosby Street Hotel in New York achieves a distinctly American flair without abandoning its British roots.
As you would expect the 86 rooms and suites are equally eye-catching, featuring large floor-to-ceiling windows with great views of Soho and vintage dressmaker mannequins setting the tone. Each luxurious room is one of a kind and individually designed with Kit Kemp’s signature style.
Crosby Street Hotel in New York has a fabulous bar-restaurant, opening onto a patio on Lafayette Street and serving Modern American dishes. In homage to the hotel’s British roots, the afternoon tea is excellent with a variety of teas, delicious cakes, scones, tarts, sandwiches and if you like, add some glamour with a glass of champagne.
At the Crosby Street Hotel you can also find a lovely leafy garden, a light and bright lobby, a guest drawing room with fireplaces and deep sofas and a fully equipped gym. Big fan of movies? Sign up for the Sunday night film club in the 99-seat screening room.
