Searching for the ultimate honeymoon or dream destination? Stop searching!
After a 40 minute flight from Mahé, you’ll reach an idyllic island in the Seychelles. Forming part of the Amirante Archipelago (a remote coral atoll), the nearest island is too far to see. Desroches is a remote island gem with swaying coconut palms, sparkling turquoise waters, unspoiled beaches, virgin forests and only one barefoot luxury resort. Home to giant tortoises, Desroches Island is approximately 6 km long, 1 km wide and boasts 14km of powdery white beaches. Known as one of the most pristine islands in the world, Desroches Island is a place where tropical dreams come true.
But why go? This picture-perfect palm paradise is a luxurious refuge for romance, adventure, pampered relaxation and an exceptional destination for diving, fishing and watersport. Here, enjoy the laid-back approach to island life, experience beach bliss, and find absolute serenity, far away from the rest of the world. Desroches Island Resort in the Seychelles features a range of luxurious accommodation, an indulgent restaurant, a dive and fishing center, gym, yoga pavilion and a sublime spa.
The owners of Desroches Island succeeded in creating a castaway chic resort. Desroches Island’s architecture and design reflect a deep respect for the natural environment. Cocooned by lush tropical gardens, the blissful villas with beach in reach are furnished in a barefoot chic style with all luxurious amenities. Featuring natural materials and colors inspired by the sea and island, the luxurious accommodation range from small beach suites to exclusive, spacious residences. We absolutely love Desroches Island’s style. Going on honeymoon? Pick a beach suite or beach retreat with plunge pool. The bathrooms from the beach retreats are really amazing. All the suites and villas offer a complimentary mini-bar, mosquito net, outdoor shower, satellite television with DVD player, Bose iPod Dock and two bicycles. Travelling with friends or family? Book a beach villa or beach residence, ideal for larger groups looking for their own private domain. The larger villas offer swimming pools, living areas, many bedrooms as well as a modern kitchens. Desroches Island Resort can provide a full service – including food, a butler and laundry service – leaving enough time to only relax and unwind. Looking for the epitome of style and luxury? The 4-bedroom 767m2 Madam Zabre Retreat is the ultimate place to truly switch off and simply dream. Furthermore, the beach suites are located near the restaurant, lounge bar and pool, while the rest of the villas are located on the other side of the island. But you get a bicycle, so it’s easy to move around the island.
On Desroches Island you can find enough romantic picnic spots, while the Terrace restaurant serves delicious delights. All meals are included here. Start your day with breakfast by the pool, have lunch with your feet in the sand, watch sunset with cocktail in hand and dine in style at night. This remote retreat in the Seychelles serves à la carte food, but two times a week they provide a buffet-style dinner. The cauliflower soup is sublime, and for dessert order the tropical fruit tart with strawberry sorbet… yummy! If you’re a room-service addict, order delicious food in the privacy of your villa. Unfortunately they charge a lot of money for bringing the food to your villa.
Need to know: there’s no telephone connection, but there is wifi (extremely slow) available in public areas. In some rooms you can use wifi, which is not complimentary. We think this is a place to completely unwind and unplug from the digital world. Personally, we really liked the “digital detox”.
Rediscover your inner self with a yoga lesson, snorkel like nemo, visit the tortoise sanctuary, explore the paradise beaches or just chill out at your exclusive villa. To refresh the beach-bored, go fly fishing or diving among incredible marine life. In fact, some of the best fly fishing in the world can be enjoyed on the outer islands. Fan of cave diving? The Big Cave is an amazing dive site. If it’s all too much, hit the Escape Spa for some me-time. The rustic-luxe Escape Spa offers divine spa treatments like Ayurveda massages with warm oil and Elemental Herbology and Dr. Hauschka facials plus body scrubs.
