Only got a few days on the Island of Gods? Want no faff, no crap, just the best of the best? We picked the best places for you.
Think of the island of Bali as a big green city, there’s lots to see and do all over the joint, but the hot and happening places are located in Seminyak and surroundings.
For dining at an artsy down-to-earth restaurant, overlooking a vista of endless rice paddies, head to Sardine Restaurant. Sardine Restaurant is housed in an airy pavilion with a sleek bar of polished bamboo, and offers a menu starring fresh seafood and organic produce from Sardine’s own farm. The daily changing menu might include just-caught seafood like Bangyuwangi Scallops, Yellow Fin Tuna or Sea Bream. The executive chef Michael Shaheen from California, calls it “cuisine du soleil” — healthy, light food suited to hot climates. Desserts are also mouth-watering, from a Coconut Panna Cotta to Grilled Bali Pineapple served with raspberry-lime granita, yoghurt mousse and a pineapple tuile.
For a more chilled environment, head to the outdoor lounge area which overlooks the rice fields with comfortable daybeds where you can relax for coffee, cocktails and conversations under the stars.
