Six Senses Samui Resort
Phuket’s more relaxed sibling, Koh Samui offers a nice mix of buzzing nightlife and secluded, natural beauty.
Tucked away at the northern tip of Koh Samui, and only a 10-minute drive away from Koh Samui Airport, you’ll find Six Senses Samui. This rustic rainforest retreat affords perhaps the finest vistas on the entire island. From its romantic multi-level villas, restaurants and Holistic Spa, the views stretch far across the Gulf of Siam, while the headland location means guests can admire both sunset and sunrise.
Just 66 teak villas create an atmosphere of space and light whilst maintaining views from almost every location in the villa. 52 of the villas have private infinity-edged swimming pools that blend into the horizon, and help maintain a feeling of seclusion. The higher up the hillside your villa is located, the better the view.
The “Dining on the Hill” restaurant serves balanced, healthy meals and the “Dining on the Rocks” restaurant gives traditional Thai recipes a modern twist and boasts 270-degree panoramic views.
Treat your body as a temple: Samui is Thailand’s holistic haven, and if you’re looking to spa, detox or enjoy your best-ever massage, this is the place to do it. The emphasis of the Six Senses Spa is to offer de-stress programmes that focus on bringing out your inner beauty by pampering to your body’s needs. Try the signature treatment: “Secret La Stone 4 Hands”, a four-handed massage with hot basalt stones. There is also a beauty salon, sauna, steam rooms, gym, room for yoga, pilates and thai chi.
On the grounds of the Six Senses Samui Resort you can find the water sports center, and an art gallery. If you wish to venture further afield, the Life centre takes all the hassle out of arranging island tours, snorkeling trips, catamaran sailing, Thai cookery classes or just borrowing a DVD for the night.
Worth knowing: This is an eco-friendly place. The commitment to the environment at Six Senses Samui is serious, but not in-your-face.
This the ideal place for pampered relaxation or a tropical island adventure.
