Singita Faru Faru Lodge
From Arusha you step into a small plane, and you fly in half an hour to the impressive and far North of Tanzania near the border with Kenia. Here your guide for the next couple of days is already waiting in an open jeep. It feels like arriving absolutely in the middle of nowhere. A private safari at Singita Faru Faru really means a private safari. The Singita Faru Faru Lodge is located in the huge and private Singita Grumeti Reserve, so the chance of bumping against another jeep full of tourists is zero. This amazing lodge lies on a beautiful hill surrounded by an abundance of different species of birds and animals. The contemporary safari style of Singita Faru Faru can be described as a barefoot elegance in a relaxed rural setting. The moment you enter the lodge you can admire the gorgeous pool, and a magnificent panorama of a pond where animals are drinking. You don’t even need a 4 wheel drive to observe the wildlife.
The villas are undoubtedly the most beautiful ones we have ever seen during our many visits through the stunning landscape of Africa. The perfect contrast between bricks, canvas, the interior design, and comfortable furniture makes it you almost don’t want to leave your villa. Perhaps only for an open air shower in the morning while observing the sounds of the savannah. The Singita Faru Faru Lodge boasts only eight open-style suites and one Villa Suite (which are larger than the average houses back home). This is all great and wonderful, but not the reason why we came all the way to Tanzania…
The next morning we awakened at 6.00, and after a quick shower in the open air we went on our first gamedrive with our guide. We were really overwhelmed by the stunning beauty and diversity in this area. The natural beauty of Tanzania (and especially the area around Singita Faru Faru) are the most exceeding we’ve ever seen. Even without animals this would be the ultimate destination to go to. Because we were the only ones in the car we decided how long the game drives lasts, whether we liked to travel a lot or less, what kind of beauty we wanted to admire (every hour the complete setting around us changed), and what animals we wanted to spot. Our answer was… as long as possible and surprise us! So every morning we were sitting totally excited in the jeep from 6.00 till 11.00, and again in the afternoon for another tour from 16.00 till 20.00.
During the game drives we passed by everything, but literally everything. Hundreds of monkeys, hunting and eating leopards, large lion families with cubs, elephants, giraffes, hyenas fighting for a prey, hippos, rhinos, large populations of birds. In short; it didn’t stop. In between, we enjoyed a drink and some delicious bites at wonderful points in the middle of the bush. I am so glad that we’re all in the possession of a digital camera with lots of storage, because my fingers started to ache from taking all the pictures.
